Welcome to Highlander Driving Academy, a family-owned business dedicated to providing exceptional driver education experience. Our virtual classroom instruction ensures that both parents students are satisfied with our engaging lessons and behind-the-wheel sessions. Segment I Information

What is the minimum age a student can enroll in Segment I?

By State Law a student must be 14.8 years of age by the first class session

What is Segment I?

The first step under Michigan's Graduated Driving License system is Segment I.  During Segment I your student must complete 24 Hours of classroom instruction, Six Hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, and four hours observation.  Once successfully completed, the student will receive a completion receipt which will allow them to obtain their Level One License (Permit) from the Secretary of State.

What is the next step after I complete Segment I?

You must take your Segment I completion receipt along with necessary legal documents to the Secretary of State and apply for a Level One License (Permit)

Segment II Information
To successfully complete Segment II, students are required to hold their Level One License for a minimum of 90 days and accumulate 30 hours of behind-the-wheel experience, including two night hours. This segment includes six hours of classroom instruction, with driving requirements necessary. Upon fulfilling these criteria, students will awarded a Segment II Certificate of Completion.
